Foot In Mouth

I just had the most awkward moment at work. I ran into a fellow that I had noticed had been out the last couple of weeks. Being the friendly person that
I am, I asked him if he had been on vacation. He replied that he was out because his wife had a miscarriage at 6 months. I wanted to die! I gave him my condolences and got out of there. God, I feel horrible!

  1. There is no way you would have had known, it does feel awkward when something like this happens. I am sure he appreciated your concern more than anything else. How many others didn't even notice he was gone in the first place?

  2. Things like that happen sometimes when you don't know something about someone. I'm sure he knows you weren't being deliberate about it.

  3. You could not have known, and chances are he was not upset by the question, he had to expect that someone would ask.

  4. Thanks, guys, for your kind words. I know he saw how bad I felt and wasn't upset with me. But it was not my finest hour.

  5. I know what you felt that you were too sad when hearing the news from your friend. I also convey my condolence to your friend and family. I think that you regretted it because you just know that your friend had not worked with you anymore.

  6. How long you don’t make any contact with him until you don’t know about the condition? I think that it was too late for you but you can give him spirit to pass through his life rightly. As a good friend, you need to give your concern and still keep contact although you are so busy.
